A ‘giving tree’ has been made by a Deb Siggins, from Iowa, that is carrying hundreds of homemade face masks for locals. The 55-year-old began making these masks after one of her local hospitals needed donations due to shortages.

"My goal was to make 100 and donate them to the hospital, but then my friends and family wanted some, too," Siggins told "Good Morning America.”

After starting to make the masks her current count is over 400.

"I just felt like [my sewing] is a gift that I could put it towards other people because it's a gift that god has given me," she said to ‘GMA.’

After making them she thought of the idea to put them on a tree to practice social distancing while giving them out. They placed the tree close to their home so they good see people coming and grabbing them. The tree is first come first serve.

"I'm a giver, not a taker, so I feel really good," she said to ‘GMA’ about how she feels when she sees people use her face coverings.
