Standing inside his office wearing a jacket and button-down shirt without a tie, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell announced that the Cincinnati Bengals were taking LSU quarterback Joe Burrow with the first pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. The camera then cut to Burrow's home, where he was sitting on the couch watching his name get called with his parents.

The NFL Draft was supposed to be held in Las Vegas, with the players taking the stage on boats in the middle of the fountain in front of the Bellagio. Instead, it was held virtually because of the global coronavirus pandemic.

Burrow had a stellar year in 2019, winning the Heisman Trophy after leading the LSU Tigers to an undefeated season and their first national championship since 2007. He threw for 5,671 yards and had 60 touchdowns, which was the most ever by an FBS quarterback.

Burrow joins Cam Newton as the only other quarterback since 1967 to be taken first overall after winning both the Heisman the national championship.

The Bengals have high hopes that Burrow can be a franchise quarterback and said he would compete for the starting job next season.
