Wishes really do come true. Two weeks ago, Dr. Anthony Fauci jokingly divulged that he'd want Brad Pitt to play him on Saturday Night Live, and last night (April 25), that's exactly what happened.
SNL aired its second "At Home" episode, and the hunky actor appeared in the cold open as the leader of the White House Coronavirus Task Force. As Dr. Fauci, Pitt addressed some of President Trump's recent comments about COVID-19. "There has been a lot of misinformation out there about the virus," he said, adding that he wanted to clarify “what the president was trying to say."
The screen then jumped from real news footage of Trump talking about everything from a vaccine coming "relatively soon" to suggesting we inject disinfectants into our bodies to combat the virus, with "Fauci" disputing the president's words. He then brought up the rumors that Trump was going to fire him.
"Yeah, I’m getting fired. But until then, I'm going to be there, putting out the facts for whoever's listening," he said. "And when I hear things like, 'The virus can be cured if everyone takes the Tide Pod challenge, I'll be there to say, 'Please don't.'"
At the end of the skit, Pitt took of his wig and glasses to address Dr. Fauci, and healthcare workers all over the world. "And to the real Dr. Fauci, thank you for your calm and your clarity in this unnerving time," he said with utmost sincerity. "And thank you to the medical workers, first responders and their families for being on the frontline. And now live, kinda, from all across America, it's Saturday night."
