Walt Disney World has received some preliminary guidelines for reopening from a Florida task force, as per reports.
On Tuesday (April 28), a task force appointed by officials in Orange County unveiled a set of guidelines for the reopening of Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando Resorts, among other theme parks. The Orange County Economic Task Force, which is made up of 44 individuals, including a Disney executive and the CEO of the Orlando Magic NBA team, has been appointed to oversee the county's approach to reopening businesses. Among the two guidelines include tape markings of six feet apart in ride/attraction lines and for staff to regularly wipe down surfaces at random.
Meanwhile, a list of mandates require all employees to wear face masks, touchless hand sanitizer at each ticketing entry and turnstiles, touchless hand sanitizer at each ride/attraction entry and exit, temperature checks for staff prior to shift and a wipe down of all railing and surfaces regularly. Additionally, all employees with flu-like symptoms are advised to stay home.
The two-part reopening plan will see parks start by operating at 50 percent capacity. For the second part of the process, parks will be able to operate at 75 percent capacity. The Orange County Economic Task Force also recommended that parks discourage anyone 65 or older from visiting the premises during both phases. No specific time frame has been unveiled for the phases of reopening.
"I'm not sure how that’s going to be governed, but these are our recommendations," Chuck Whittall, the president of Unicorp National Development, said during the meeting.
