Touring Will Be Madness When Pandemic Ends, Says Psychedelic Furs' Frontman

The Psychedelic Furs fans are going to have to wait a little bit longer to enjoy the band's new album, Made Of Rain (now due out July 31), but frontman Richard Butler says he's more concerned about how long people will have to wait to see the band live again.

The Psychedelic Furs were supposed to be on tour right now, but of course the novel coronavirus pandemic has thrown nearly every industry in the world out of whack, and none more so than the live events and concert touring industries.

Butler tells Q104.3's Out of the Box with Jonathan Clarke that it'll be like the wild west when bands are allowed back on the road.

"When touring, for instance, does start up again, everybody's going to be wanting to tour, so there's gonna be, you know, just about every band in the world will be trying to tour when we can again," he mused. "It's going to be crazy."

No one really knows when that will be. Butler says The Psychedelic Furs are rescheduling their European dates to 2021. The the band is "hopeful" it will be able to tour American this fall or winter.

"The goal posts are moving all the time, we don't really know," he conceded.

On a positive note, the wait could bring about "much more exciting" shows, especially as fans look forward to blowing off some pent up energy and the band looks forward to delivering its new songs.

"It's going to be really exciting playing all the new songs. I'm really pleased with the record and I think they're going to be great live songs," he said.
