Kelly Ripa is at it again with the kitchen scissors. However, this time it was her son, Michael Consuelos, who was at the receiving end of the cut and it happened on live television.
On Thursday (April 30), the longtime TV host, 49, recruited her son, 22, and showed Live With Kelly & Ryan viewers a few tips and tricks to cutting hair amid the COVID-19 lockdown. "I have scissors. Kitchen scissors," she said during the segmented, which featured instruction from Xavier Cruz, founder of Barba Men's Grooming Boutique in New York City. "If you’re just using scissors, you can do a scissor over comb. Michael already cut his hair, so you want to just clean it up a little bit," Cruz told Ripa. "Just take some small sections and clean up the ends."
Meanwhile, co-host Ryan Seacrest followed along using clippers. "You’re going to start with the back with the sides, and you’re going to go straight up and to the bottom of your crown. Easy strokes," Cruz instructed. "When you get to the top, flip the buzzer away."
In mid-April, Ripa revealed that she gave herself a haircut amid the quarantine. "I'm not going to lie. I cut my own hair," she told viewers. "I used kitchen scissors. We obviously don't have haircutting scissors. I cut my own hair. I didn't cut bangs, because that's…" Husband Mark Consuelos interrupted Ripa's explanation, admitting that he would have stopped her from such a move. "I didn’t say anything, but I was ready to jump in case you went across the bang," he chimed in.
