Reggae star Buju Banton is back with another new song called "Memories," and it features none other than John Legend.
"Memories" follows Banton's previous new-release "Ganja Man," and is another taste of his forthcoming new album Upside Down 2020. In the song, Banton and Legend sing about missing a previous relationship, and still having feelings for that person. In the first verse, John sings, "I guess I am not over you, like I thought I was/ Guess I was foolin' myself, 'cause I'm still in love/ Still in love with you woman." He continues in the chorus, "Even when I try to not say the things I say/ Wasn't meant to be this way/ Love is not game to play, yes we went our separate ways/ But the memories."
Banton and Legend have worked together before, as the reggae artist was featured on Legend's 2008 track "Can't Be My Lover."
The Jamaica native is getting ready to drop his new album Upside Down 2020, which is set to be released sometime this year, and will feature 20 new songs, including "Memories." The new album his is first in ten years, since 2010's Before the Dawn.
In an Instagram video talking about the album, he explained of the forthcoming project, "I perceive what I've seen from my emergence as being 'upside down.' In other words, we as people no longer possess things, these things we think we possess, do not possess us. Good is now turned as bad. A lot of things are not the way they ought to be. Mankind is also in a state of disarray." He added, "We are in the year 2020, obviously. But, 2020 have a deeper understanding in my mind. It also resonates with having a clear vision, seeing things for what it is. 2020 have a lot of significance. The year 2020, I'm giving you 20 tracks on the album, Upside Down."
