UK rapper Ty has died at the age of 47.
On Thursday (May 7), the London born artist's team confirmed his passing.
A fundraiser that was set up for Ty last month, said, per The Guardian, that he was “admitted into the hospital with medical complications related to Covid-19. Shortly after, he was put in a medically induced coma to temporarily sedate to help his body receive the appropriate treatment." His condition improved, however, and he was moved out of intensive care in mid-April, the outlet reports.
Ty, born Ben Chijioke, released his debut album Awkward in 2001. He went on to release three more albums with his last LP being A Work Of Heart in 2018.
Last year, Ty also formed a UK hip-hop supergroup called Kingdem featuring rappers Blak Twang and Rodney P.
Following news of Ty's death, Blak Twang wrote on Twitter that he was “so numb."
