Taylor Swift is bringing her “City of Lover” concert to small screens everywhere!
On early Friday morning (May 8), ABC announced Swift’s 2019 concert will broadcast in an upcoming one-hour special on the network. The program, “Taylor Swift City of Lover Concert,” is scheduled to air on ABC next Sunday, May 17, at 10 p.m. ET following the season finale of American Idol. On the following day, May 18, the special will be available on demand worldwide on Disney+ and Hulu.
The live experience, which was filmed at L’Olympia Theater in Paris, France, last September, features the “You Need to Calm Down” singer-songwriter performing songs during her “City of Lover” jaunt, during which Swift performed a live set of songs from her number-one seventh studio album, Lover, to a passionate crowd of Swifties from 37 countries. In addition, the special will give fans behind-the-scenes access to intimate moments from the 10-time Grammy winner's only concert performance of the year.
Per the press release, the new ABC special comes in light of the unfortunate impact of the ongoing COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, which ultimately cause Swift to cancel her upcoming “Lover Fest” tour.
“While we are all home, Taylor Swift and her family of fans will be able to have a moment together and experience a never-before-seen, intimate performance, and we are so thrilled to be able to offer this to our own family of viewers on ABC," said Eric Avram, vice president, Talent and Booking at ABC Entertainment.
