Maren Morris Is Easing Back Into A Post-Baby Workout Routine

Less than two months after giving birth, Maren Morris, is starting to get back into working out again with the help of her trainer, Erin Oprea.

"We are back to training again and she is a badass and I’m so proud of her," Oprea told Us Weekly. "She worked up until basically the day, I think we trained like a day or two before she had the baby. And then we’re back at it."

Oprea has been encouraging Morris to take it easy as she adjusts to her new life as a mother.

"I don’t want her to take every second like, ‘Oh my God, I gotta lose this weight.’ Enjoy the baby," Oprea said. "Let’s stay healthy, enjoy the baby, have an occasional cocktail, move your beautiful body and just try to enjoy the time and don’t feel that crazy pressure of the weight has to be off tomorrow. And so I really want her to enjoy the journey and not stress over it because one, there’s not [an end] date. So I was, like, let’s just kind of enjoy this time while working towards feeling our best."

With that mindset, she says they're doing some basic bodyweight exercises to start as she eases back into it.

"We’re not doing a lot of core stuff yet. We are not cleared for any of that yet. So we’re just doing, everything right now is very basic,” Opera explained. "I think let’s just slowly get back into it because the risk of going backwards is not worth it. So we’re just doing basic lunges, squats, lightweight training, no jumping, none of that yet. And we will slowly build up and we’ll be back to doing everything before we know it. In the next handful of weeks, she’ll be ready to rock."

For new mothers who want to start working out again, Oprea suggests walking. "Nothing feels better than a good walk. Getting out and getting vitamin D. There’s nothing that can change your mood," she said. "Like you could be in the worst mood if you just get out and go for a walk and you have that sunshine on you. I mean that just puts you in the best mood."

Based on a recent photo shared by Morris, it looks like she's taking Oprea's advice and getting outside for walks when she can. The picture shows the country star wearing a hat and sunglasses with her baby boy sleeping on her chest in a leopard print sling. "We finally went outside!" Morris wrote in the caption.

Morris and her husband, Ryan Hurd, just welcomed their first child on March 23. A few days following his birth, Morris revealed that she endured 30 hours of labor but needed to have an emergency C-section as well.

"30 hours of labor ended with an emergency c-section," she shared on Instagram. "Not what we planned but I learned pretty quickly that night that having a plan for bringing a human into the world is a fool’s errand. All that mattered was that he got here safely."

She continued on to explain how strange it was to give birth in the middle of a global health crisis. "Holding him and healing my body in a maternity ward that's eerily quiet from us not being allowed visitors or family at this time, but strangely serene."

To end her note, Morris thanked mothers all over the world for their strength during childbirth. "I can’t thank every single mother enough for going through what you’ve gone through because I had NO idea how hard it could be, and I’m a measly 4 days in. The world is changing before our eyes and so am I."

30 hours of labor ended with an emergency c-section... not what we planned but I learned pretty quickly that night that having a plan for bringing a human into the world is a fool’s errand. All that mattered was that he got here safely. Having him in the middle of a global health crisis was also not in the baby prep books, but here we are. Holding him and healing my body in a maternity ward that’s eerily quiet from us not being allowed visitors or family at this time, but strangely serene. All we hear are monitors beeping and the coos of our infant son. Maybe the sound of the 100th episode of The Office @ryanhurd and I have binged while in here. The admiration we have for the doctors, nurses + healthcare professionals that took care of Hayes & me during our stay cannot be measured in this post. They risked their health every day to make sure ours was okay. I can’t think of anything more selfless than that. Ultimately, I can’t thank every single mother enough for going through what you’ve gone through because I had NO idea how hard it could be, and I’m a measly 4 days in. The world is changing before our eyes and so am I. That’s been a peaceful thing to cling to during these uncertain times. Thinking of you all. 🖤
