A film documenting late-Thin Lizzy frontman Phil Lynott's life and career is set to arrive in theaters in Lynott's home country of Ireland this fall.
Directed by filmmaker Emer Reynolds, Phil Lynott: Songs For While I'm Away, includes interviews with current and former Thin Lizzy band members, as well as rock luminaries like U2's Adam Clayton, Metallica's James Hetfield, Suzi Quatro, Huey Lewis and others.
Lynott grew up in working class Dublin in the 1950s. By his tragic death in the mid-'80s, he was an icon of Irish music and poetry.
Lynott tells much of his story in his own words in the film, thanks to archival interview footage. His daughters, Sarah Lynott and Cathleen Howard-Lynott, gave Songs For While I'm Away their blessing.
"As always, we are incredibly proud of our dad and we loved having the opportunity to look at the man behind the music with this film," they said.
International distribution and an exact release date has not been announced.
