Here's Why IHOP Is Pulling Syrup From Its Tables

As the country begins reopening, restaurants prepare to welcome guests after months long closures. While restaurants are opening their doors once again, things are going to look a little different when they do. IHOP is one of the restaurants that will be making some big changes as it moves forward. Here's what you can expect if you're planning to visit you local IHOP anytime soon.

IHOP will be following CDC guidelines for its reopening, which will see employees in face masks and the removal of some high touch items from the tables. The high touch items that guests won't see, at least for the foreseeable future, are pre-set cutlery, plastic menus and refillable coffee mugs. If guests need a coffee refill, they will likely be given a fresh cup. Plastic menus will be replaced with single use paper menus.

One item in particular will surely be missed more than others. IHOP's selection of flavored syrups that are kept on the tables will also likely be pulled from use, according to Mashed.com. Like the menus, the syrups will also likely be replaced by single use versions of the original, reusable ones.

The reason restaurants will be limiting the use of high touch objects is to help curb the spread of the novel coronavirus. While the virus is most likely to spread through respiratory droplets released when people talk, cough, or sneeze, it can also be spread by hands touching a contaminated surface and then touching the nose or mouth.

Will you be visiting restaurants to dine in any time soon?
