Kelly Clarkson has been holding it together since filing for divorce from her husband Brandon Blackstock.
On June 11, TMZ revealed the 38-year-old superstar filed docs in Los Angeles on June 4 to terminate her seven-year marriage to the 43-year-old music manager, citing "irreconcilable differences." According to various source reports, the decision was prompted by the long-standing marital issues the couple had been having for several months.
Since the unfortunate news made headlines, the American Idol alum was pictured reportedly for the first time this past Friday (June 12) while walking her dog through her Los Angeles neighborhood. The Daily Mail captured pics seeming to show Clarkson putting on a brave face just hours after her divorce filing went public — see the images here.
According to an update from People, Clarkson seems to be doing alright these days despite the unwanted attention her impending divorce has caused. “Kelly is spending time in L.A. with her kids. She has been low-key and mostly stayed at home,” an insider told the outlet. “She seems to be doing okay.”
Since tying the knot in October 2013, Blackstock and Clarkson welcomed two children together, 5-year-old daughter River Rose and 4-year-old son Remington.
As aforementioned, the duo’s choice to end their marriage follows months of built-up tension between the two during quarantine. "Kelly and Brandon had been having problems for several months and were making a conscious effort to work things out," an insider told Entertainment Tonight. "They both hoped quarantining away from L.A. in Montana would help them work things out in their marriage, but instead the change in environment was actually detrimental."
The “constant time together” ultimately made matters worse for Blackstock and Clarkson, whose busy career was a much-needed distraction for her. However, the extra time they’ve been spending together supposedly gave the Voice coach “the time she needed to think about her life and her marriage."
