EA Sports unveiled the new covers for Madden 21 on Tuesday (June 16), featuring reigning NFL MVP Lamar Jackson. While the reveal is usually a surprise, Jackson inadvertently leaked he was on the cover during an interview a few months ago.

"With style and swag uniquely his own, reigning NFL MVP Lamar Jackson dazzles on the new Madden NFL 21 cover as he does against the opposition on gameday," EA Sports said. "Dynamic agility and blazing speed make the Baltimore Ravens superstar QB untouchable in the open field. The face of a fearless new generation of rising NFL stars, Jackson has changed the game."

EA also put out a sizzle-reel showing off some Lamar's best moves.

They also released a trailer for the game, which comes out on August 28. This year's game features improved skill stick controls for ball carriers, brand new pass-rush controls, realistic open-field tackling, and user-controlled celebrations. It will also feature the Las Vegas Raiders in their new home, Allegiant Stadium.

EA said that anybody who purchases a digital copy of the game will be able to upgrade to the new generation of consoles for free when they are released later this year.

It is the second year in a row in which the reigning NFL MVP is on the cover of Madden. Last year, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was featured on the cover.
