North Carolina Teen Survives Shark Attack After Father Fights It Off

A 16-year-old boy survived a shark attack off the coast of North Carolina thanks to his dad. Nick Arthur was jumping over waves on a sandbar about 25 feet off the shore when his father, Tim, heard him scream. To Tim's horror, he saw his son trying to fight off a shark, which had a solid grip on his thigh.

He rushed to help his son and started punching and kicking the shark. Eventually, the shark let go after Tim kicked it in the nose. Nick was rushed to a medical facility where he received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.

The shark left 40 teeth marks in his thigh, and he required 17 stitches. He was released from the hospital and is currently using crutches to get around.
