Authorities in North Carolina said that two people were killed and 12 others were injured in a shooting at a block party in Charlotte early Monday (June 22) morning. Police said that several shooters fired over 100 rounds into the crowd of more than 400 people.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a woman in the road with a gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Eight other people were shot and rushed to local hospitals. One of those patients died, and the condition of the other seven is unknown. Five people were struck by vehicles and are being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Officials have not made any arrests in the case and, so far, have not received any help from people in attendance.

"It was a very, very chaotic scene," the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said, according to WSB-TV. "We're talking about 400 people in one spot, not one witness, not one."
