Jennifer Aniston & Lisa Kudrow Reveal Their Favorite 'Friends' Memories

As part of Variety's latest 'Actors on Actors' issue, Friends fans were treated to a mini cast reunion. Jennifer Aniston and Lisa Kudrow interviewed each other for the annual series and, unsurprisingly, the conversation eventually turned to Friends. While the official Friends reunion has been postponed due to the pandemic, Kudrow and Aniston shared some of their favorite memories from filming the show.

Aniston recalled the first table read for Friends, telling Kudrow she was wearing "an appropriate Phoebe Buffay [outfit] — like, a white linen, hippie shirt, and you had a bunch of seashells and necklaces on” for the event. She even remembered how Kudrow had styled her hair, as well. “You had your hair pulled up in two little clips, and you had these little blond tendrils. So, so, so beautiful! And Courteney [Cox] had on a pink baby tee with a white trim.”

The actresses also revealed whether they ever watch Friends episodes. “I love it! I love stumbling on a Friends episode,” Aniston shared. “This one time I was with Courteney, and we were trying to find something to reference, an old Friends thing and then we stumbled on — there’s bloopers online, like, 15 minutes work of bloopers. We sat there at the computer like two nerds watching these bloopers laughing at ourselves.”

Kudrow, however, has refrained from watching the show because she doesn't "want to ruin it." She does want to revisit the old episodes one day, but she'd like to do it with her cast mates. “I’m still not watching it in the hopes that one day we sit down and watch them together,” she told Aniston, to which Aniston responded that “that’s something that will happen.” Kudrow then shared that day "will be really great” and she "can’t wait to do that. I really can’t wait to do that.”

Though Kudrow hasn't watched the show in some time, she told Aniston that one of her favorite moments from filming has been turned into frequently used meme. It's a scene from the iconic 'The One Where Everybody Finds Out' episode in which Phoebe and Rachel catch Chandler and Monica kissing from Ross’ apartment window. Phoebe memorably yells, “My eyes! My eyes!” as her initial reaction.

“I stole [that line] from Matthew Perry. That’s how Matthew Perry says things,” Kudrow said. “I actually asked his permission before we shot it. I was like, ‘I don’t know if you’ve seen the rehearsals, but I’m saying ‘My eyes! My eyes!’ the way you do. So I just need to know that that’s OK with you. If not, I’ll say it a different way.’ And he was like, ‘Yeah, go for it.'”

Let's keep our fingers crossed that the HBO Max Friends reunion will be able to resume filming soon so we can have more of these Friends anecdotes ASAP!
