At the first-ever digitally personalized Broadcast Delivered, YouTube announced a number of new ventures, including a four-part docuseries focused on Demi Lovato.
Directed by Michael D. Rater, who produced YouTube's recent Justin Bieber: Seasons series, the upcoming project is set to give fans a look at her personal and professional endeavors. More specifically, a press release revealed that the project will see the singer "show fans her personal and musical journey over the past three years." As you know, there's quite a bit to cover, including her 2018 overdose, time in rehab and eventual return to the spotlight, alongside her new music manager Scooter Braun. He went on to help her land performance gigs at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards and Super Bowl LIV just a week later. YouTube previously collaborated with Lovato on her 2017 YouTube Originals documentary, Simply Complicated.
Among the other projects YouTube announced include Season 2 of Instant Influencer With James Charles, a gaming-based tournament called The Creator Games Presented by MrBeats, Season 2 of Retro Tech and much more.
Lovato's upcoming venture will likely be a candid one, particularly since she's been an open book as of late. In a recent appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, the singers exchanged kind words about their perseverance in the industry, with Lovato calling Clarkson her "idol" growing up. "I just have to say that you were the first idol that I ever had and I wouldn't be the artist, or even the person that I am with being so outspoken and vulnerable and fearless, if I hadn't had you to look up to," she confessed. "So, I thank you for that. I looked at you as my idol growing up. You are fearless and courageous and real, and I love that about you. And I've always just thought to myself, like when I was younger, I always thought to myself, if I ever make it, I want to be like her because she's real and she's genuine."
