J.M. Smucker Company is recalling one lot of Natural Balance canned cat food due to potentially deadly health concerns.

As per a recent recall notice, the company said it received reports of pets having "adverse reactions" to 5.5 oz. cans of Natural Balance Ultra Premium Chicken & Liver Paté Formula. Cats who consume the food may experience "nausea with excessive salivation, constricted pupils and poor vision, diarrhea or vomiting to more severe symptoms including difficulty walking, muscle shaking, tremors, irregular heartbeat, difficulty breathing, possible cardiac or respiratory failure and, in extreme situations, death."

As for the reasoning, the company said the it's likely due to higher levels of choline chloride. Thankfully, J.M. Smucker Company was able to release information about the stock, which was sold online and in pet specialty retailers throughout the United States and Canada. The 5.5 oz can is said to feature a Best If Used By Date of 08 04 2021, with the Retail UPC Code 2363353227) and Lot Code (9217803).

Information on adverse reactions can be sent directly to the company via e-mail (info@naturalbalanceinc.com) or by phone (888-569-6828).
