We are experiencing rising temperatures, but our typical summer fun is on hold. Thankfully, Netflix has offered up a new binge-worthy show that helps us escape the beach for adventure.
In a recent interview with Cody Alan, television actor Charles Esten explains why his new show "Outer Banks" is for the adventure seeker, beach enthusiast, and even the couch pirate.
"Well, the best thing I can tell you is that even with the great cinematography, [Outer Banks] was created and written by guys who have been friends forever. Who grew up on beaches together, and are huge fans of all of those treasure hunting, young adult, wrong side of the tracks stories," reveals Charles (also known as Chip.)
"I have heard comparisons to "The Goonies," "National Treasure," "The Outsiders," some "Ozark," but for younger adults," shares the actor.
"[Outer Banks] is about a father who is a treasure hunter on the Outer Banks," reveals Chip. "The shores out there are full of ships that have gone down over the centuries. That's for real. That's the exact case!"
"Even the treasure that they are talking about in this show is 400-million in cash. A year before the show starts, the father mysteriously disappears, and now a hurricane hits and stirs some things up, leaving clues lead us to believe that maybe the father found that treasure, and that's why his father can't be found."
