Did New Girl predict the 2020 pandemic?

In a video shared on TikTok, one fan of the popular sitcom pointed out a few eerie moments from one season 7 episode that seems to show New Girl predicting the ongoing global pandemic. Fans of New Girl will remember the 3 year time jump that takes place between season six and the final season. Since season 6 aired in 2017, it's safe to assume that season 7 takes place in 2020.

Here are all the details from season that TikTok user @betty_white_claw that are strangely similar to the real 2020. The first episode of season 7 shows Max Greenfield's Schmidt wearing a face mask and gloves. He announces that he just bleached “all outdoor playing surfaces" before his daughter is allowed to go out and play on them. Later in that same episode, Jake Johnson's Nick tells the group has he has "to go wash my hands. I’ve been in Europe.” Weird, right?

When @betty_white_claw asked, “Did New Girl predict coronavirus?” she actually got a response from one of the show's stars. Lamorne Morris popped up in her comments and confirmed that “yes. Yes we did.” The video has garnered close to 200k views since being posted, as well as close to 25k comments. It seems like a bunch of New Girl fans agree about the show's ability to predict the future.
