Jack Nicklaus, 80, Reveals He Had COVID-19

Legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus revealed that both he and his wife were diagnosed with COVID-19 back in March. Nicklaus made the shocking revelation during the telecast of the Memorial Tournament in Dublin, Ohio, telling Jim Nantz that they have both recovered.

"It didn't last very long, and we were very, very fortunate, very lucky," Nicklaus said. "Barbara and I are both of the age, both of us 80 years old, that is an at-risk age. Our hearts go out to the people who did lose their lives and their families. We were just a couple of the lucky ones."

He said that his wife never showed any symptoms and that he had a cough and sore throat. He said that they have both tested positive for antibodies and felt comfortable being in public because "theoretically we can't get it and can't give it. That's a nice position to be in.''

After the tournament was over, Nicklaus went to continue his tradition of shaking the hand of the winner. Jon Rahm, who won with a -9 par, decided to give a fist-bump to the 80-year-old golfing legend as a precaution.

"I've been dreaming of that handshake many times,'' Rahm said. "Well, it was a fist bump because of the situation, but still, how many people can say they got a congratulatory fist bump from Jack Nicklaus?''
