Katy Perry finally set the record straight on those rumors about Jennifer Aniston becoming her daughter’s godmother.
The superstar, who is just weeks away from giving birth to her first child with fiance Orlando Bloom, formally addressed whether she asked the Friends alum to be the godparent of her future child.
Speaking to KIIS FM’s The Kyle and Jackie O Show this morning, the mommy-to-be explained, “[Jennifer] texted us, because we are friendly with her, and [my fiancé] Orlando [Bloom] is one of her good friends. And we were like wow, this is a wild rumor.”
“God knows she's had everything said about her. This is a fun rumor. But no, we have no idea where it came from,” Perry continued. Dismissing the rumor as “a product of the media and the internet,” the “Smile” singer quipped, “You should definitely believe everything you read.”
Perry’s statement comes weeks after The Daily Mirror reported an inside source dished that Aniston had, in fact, been presented with the honor by Perry herself.
“Katy and Jen are very close,” the source insisted, telling the outlet, “During lockdown they went for socially distanced walks, and spent lots of time catching up. She is pretty chuffed about it as well and cried when they asked her.”
The so-called source also claimed Aniston and Perry shared an emotional, teary-eyed moment over the alleged godmother proposal, which we now know isn’t true.
As fans know, Perry announced her pregnancy news back in March by baring her baby bump in the music video for her song "Never Worn White."
