Rylic Zander Drops 'Hold On' EP: Hear It Now
July 20, 2020
Rylic Zander has released a brand-new EP titled Hold On, his first new project in two years.
On Friday (July 18), the Los Angeles-based singer dropped the collection, which clocks in at 17-minutes and hears him weave in and out of the intersection of hip-hop and pop through the lens of closeness. "Each song on the project explores the different elements of emotions that comes when someone is longing to hold on," Zander said in a statement of the EP's overall concept. It also marks his first project where he's showcasing himself as an openly queer act. Among the titles on the 7-track collection include the George Floyd-inspired protest track, "Everybody," "Fine" featuring D. Horton, as well as the title track, which closes out the project.
Produced by KTGotBeats, Trey McNair, Chu and 7Ink, the set prioritizes production in relaying the overall message of his music. "I listen to the production first and if it speaks to me, the melody and harmony will jump out of me," he recently explained. "When it comes to the lyrics, well, there are so many words out there in the universe that eventually the right ones will fall into place."
Hold On serves as the follow-up to his 2018 debut album, Pretty Ugly. As for what's next, the budding star is working steadily to prepare a double visual album to follow the release of the EP and maybe score a collaboration with Pharrell sometime down the line.
