Zach Braff & Donald Faison Serenade Each Other

On this episode of Fake Doctors, Real Friends, Zach Braff and Donald Faison talk a little bit about the Scrubs season two, episode five they’re supposed to be talking about, “My New Coat.” But they spend more time on various trains of thought like their love for Jon Favreau and Vince Vaughn, the time Donald embarrassed himself in front of George Lucas, the Fake Doctors Bingo card one Twitter user put together, the absurdity of slut-shaming, the maximum amount of insect parts allowable in canned tuna fish, and Donald’s dental history. Then Jaime from Toronto calls in to ask, for the very first time ever, about the voiceover process for Zach on Scrubs, and manages to kick off an incredible impromptu performance of “Guy Love.”

As any fan of the podcast knows, Donald is a huge Star Wars fan, and he says that he embarrassed himself in front of George Lucas when he asked him, “How did you come up with the idea for Star Wars?” It was the most basic question ever, but George took the time to sincerely answer. But Donald was “so in awe” that he was talking to George Lucas that “I didn’t hear one word he said! He gave me the algorithm for Star Wars and I wasn’t listening!” Another time, he sat in front of George for the Revenge of the Sith premiere, which he loved. He turned around to congratulate him and even “grabbed him and gave him a hip-hop hug.” Then his date told him “your breath is awful right now.” Zach doesn’t understand how all these encounters haven’t landed Donald a role in the Star Wars universe yet, and he promises to make some calls.

They get into the episode a little bit, saying Sarah Chalke, who played Dr. Elliott on Scrubs, was being slut-shamed the entire episode for having a one-night stand. They complain about the double standard for men and women about how many sexual partners they’re “allowed” to have. Then Zach makes fun of Donald’s teeth, and his own lack of chin, before they talk to Jaime from Toronto, who asks about the voiceover process and what scene was so funny they could barely get through filming it. “Singing ‘Guy Love’ to each other,” Zach answers, which sets off a sing-a-long of epic proportions that includes a medley of Boyz II Men and Babyface. Listen for all these hijinks and more on this hilarious, freewheeling episode of Fake Doctors, Real Friends.
