LA Following Portland's Suit - Two Federal Buildings Damaged During Protest

Over the weekend, at least two federal buildings in downtown Los Angeles were damaged by protestors. The courthouse in DTLA was also damaged.

Hundreds of protestors marched downtown while police were forced to use less-lethal rounds on the small group that smashed windows.

At 7:00 p.m., on Saturday the Los Angeles Police Department was forced issued a citywide alert that stayed in effect until the morning.

In a statement, LAPD said Saturday’s march was interrupted after 5:30 p.m. when a group “inside a large crowd of protestors” attacked police officers who were following the demonstration.

Some protestors even made their way to 110 freeway. LAPD confirmed that our officers and three protesters were treated for minor injuries. As well, three were arrested for battery on a police officer and one person who had a machete was arrested for causing a disturbance.

Saturday’s protest began as a solidarity march with protesters in Portland, Oregon who have been assaulted by federal police officers.
