Academy Award-winning actress Octavia Spencer is speaking out for people with disabilities, pushing for more original onscreen representation.

In a recent video with a disability advocacy organization, Ruderman Family Foundation, Spencer, who opened up about her dyslexia disability, expressed why this is important.

"Nothing can replace lived experience and authentic representation," she says. "That's why it's imperative that we cast the appropriate actor for the appropriate role, and that means people with disabilities as well."
