After George Floyd’s death, a new political movement named “Rednecks for Black Lives” was created on Facebook to urge rural Southerners to stand up for racial equality amid the wider cultural shift against racism throughout the country.

“I’m talking with y’all today — my fellow rednecks — to invite you to show up for Black Lives," says Beth Howard, Organizing Director of Southern Crossroads and slogan creator of "Rednecks for Black Lives".
