Maren Morris Offers Her Support To Small Nashville Bars Amid Pandemic

Maren Morris is using her large platform for good. The country star recently turned to Twitter to speak out after she noticed how small bars in and around Nashville were suffering after following all of the COVID-19 safety precautions.

"Broadway bars taking advantage of these loopholes right now are cannibalizing our Nashville small businesses who have been following the health orders since day 1. Going to donate to my friends at The Fox because this is absolutely heartbreaking," Morris wrote in a tweet.

Her tweet was shared alongside a video of the The Fox bar owners criticizing downtown establishments for not adhering to mask mandates and asking Nashville Mayor John Cooper for regulation of health mandates amid the pandemic.

"It's killing your small business community," The Fox owner Andrew Cook said in the clip. "Bars like ourselves and our friends that are gathered here today, we're paying the price for the negligence of the bigger bars and establishments that are coasting by on these loopholes and getting away with what they shouldn't be getting away with right now."

The next day, Morris spoke out again to share how happy she was that some local news outlets were able to help draw attention to the issue as well. Alongside a link to Nashville's WKRN story on Morris' efforts, she directly addressed Mayor John Cooper.

"Yay to my friends at @thefoxnashville and so many small businesses for shedding a light on this uneven treatment," she wrote. "Please, @JohnCooper4Nash consider the sweeping penalties that affect the local haunts that make Nashville a place people want to visit in the 1st place. 👆🏼"

At this time Nashville is in Phase Two of its reopening. This means bars like The Fox will remain closed through August 16. Stay up to date on Nashville's COVID-19 guidelines here, at the Mayor's website.
