Brit Morin is opening up why voting matters more than ever on iHeartRadio's "Why I'm Voting" podcast.

The 34-year-old entrepreneur, who founded Brit + Co. back in 2011, spoke about the moment she realized her vote truly mattered, as well as why voting in local elections is just as important as voting in national elections while chatting on the latest episode of the "Why I'm Voting" podcast. Growing up in Texas, Morin said she thought voting in elections was similar to rooting for your favorite sports team—you support the same candidate your family does. Once she moved to California, however, Morin began to realize how important it was to find a candidate that aligns with your personal ideals, as well as how powerful it can be to exercise your right to vote.

Morin also spoke about the impact Texas will have on the presidential election this year. For the first time in a long time, Texas could become a battleground state. With so many important issues on the table, Morin believes young people in Texas are having the same realization she did all those years ago—their voice and their vote matters. "I think what you don't realize when you're 18 is that even if this candidate is in office for four years...what we're voting for might not impact us for another five to ten years," she said. "Think about where your life is going to be in five to ten years. Are you going to have children? How old will they be? Are you going to have student debt paid off at that time? You're voting for the ideals of the world you want to live in."
