Even though the fourth season of Netflix's popular historical dramaThe Crown, which chronicles Queen Elizabeth II's reign, has yet to premiere, fans are already getting excited about the upcoming fifth and sixth seasons. As more casting news breaks, the hype for the final seasons grows. The latest announcement is sure to get The Crown's audience more excited than ever as Netflix has finally announced who will be playing Princess Diana.

On Sunday (August 16), The Crown shared that Elizabeth Debicki will take on the role of Princess Diana in the show's final two seasons. The news was shared on Twitter, which included a quick note from Debicki about taking on the role of the beloved people's princess. "Princess Diana's spirit, her words and actions live in the hearts of so many. It is my true privilege and honor to be joining this masterful series, which has had me absolutely hooked since episode one," Debicki said.

Debicki will take over the role from Emma Corrin. While Debicki will play an older version of the Princess of Wales, Corrin covered the early years of Princess Diana's marriage to Prince Charles. Debicki will play Diana alongside Imelda Staunton's Queen Elizabeth, Jonathan Pryce's Prince Philip and Lesley Manville's Princess Margaret. The rest of the cast has yet to be announced.

While it's unclear when production will begin on the final two seasons of The Crown, it's expected that the fourth season will be available to stream on Netflix later this year.
