A North Carolina woman was shot in the arm with a BB gun after she pulled up a Trump sign near her brother's yard. Peggy Fox thought that somebody was playing a prank when she pulled up to her brother's home in Lincolnton. She told WSOC that her brother never expresses political views, so she went to remove the sign.
As she pulled it out of the ground, she was shot by her brother's neighbor, Worth McAllister, 76.
"(I felt) pain in my arm and I looked up, and I heard this gentleman yelling at me," Fox said.
Fox said she didn't realize the sign was on McAllister's property and would have put it back if he had asked. McAllister maintained that he was within his rights to shoot her with the BB gun because she was trespassing and trying to steal his property.
"He actually believed he could shoot me if I was on his property, and, to me, that's terrifying," Fox said.
When police arrived, they charged McAllister with misdemeanor assault. He wants to file charges against Fox for attempting to steal his campaign sign, but cannot do so until his assault case is heard on November 5.
Fox went to the hospital and said that the BB remains lodged in her arm.
