Raleigh Is One Of The Hottest Zip Codes Right Now

East Coast cities took over Realtor.com's 2020 Hottest Zip Codes this year. In its sixth annual report, millennials are making the move from the country's most urban cities to places with more affordable housing and space for raising families.

Raleigh comes in at number 10 this year, boasting great downtown access which gives it large city amenities with a small town vibe and lots of Southern hospitality. Colorado Springs, Colorado; Reynoldsburg, Ohio; and Rochester, New York lead the ranks coming in at the top three spots, respectively.

In this year's top 10 hottest markets in America, there are a few things driving the popularity, including easy access to both downtown and outdoor spaces, affordability, a strong local economy, and a large number of millennial homebuyers.

"This year's hottest ZIP codes lean noticeably toward the East Coast. Nothing west of the Rocky Mountains made the list," according to Realtor.com® Chief Economist Danielle Hale. "But when you view the list through the lens of affordability, the picture becomes more clear. As the largest generation in U.S. history continues to advance toward life milestones -- settling down, marriage, parenthood -- the need for space and affordable housing outshines the bright lights in expensive urban areas like New York or Los Angeles."
