Spend The Day Treating Yourself To A Staycation In Austin

With summer vacation plans shattered because of Covid-19, it may seem like you wasted the days away binge-watching television and baking banana bread. However, there's still time to get out and enjoy the season, while being socially-distant, right here in your city.

Start out the day with a trip to Zilker Park, a 360-acre oasis, for some time to connect with nature. Stop and smell the roses at the botanical garden and then head over to the Barton Springs Pool for a swim. This spring-fed swimming hole always stays at a perfect 68 degrees.

Next, rent a bike and see the city like you've never seen it before. Bike the Ann and Roy Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail and enjoy the sweet lake views or take a self-guided mural tour. Austin is full of iconic public art, but even long-time residents might not take the time to truly appreciate it.

Finish off the evening by watching Austin's famous bats fly into the sky from the Congress Avenue Bridge. Support a local business by ordering food and then picnic at Auditorium Shores for a stunning view of the city lights from the downtown skyline.
