KFC Suspends Its 'Finger Lickin' Good' Slogan Because Of Coronavirus

August 25, 2020

Big changes are coming to KFC amid the ongoing pandemic.

On Monday (August 24), KFC announced they'd be hitting the pause button on their famous "finger lickin' good" catchphrase for the time being. Due to our country's top health officials recommendation that we avoid touching our face to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, the fast food chain believes using the slogan "doesn't feel quite right" during this time.

"We find ourselves in a unique situation — having an iconic slogan that doesn't quite fit in the current environment," Catherine Tan-Gillespie, global chief marketing officer at KFC, said in a statement. Though the slogan is being put on pause for now, the KFC menu won't be altered in any way. The slogan will be back when "the time is right."

KFC is rolling out an accompanying marketing campaign to go along with this decision. They've released a new commercial as well as set up billboards with "finger lickin'" blurred out so the slogan simply reads "it's good."
