Breonna Taylor covers the September issue of Vanity Fair.

Amy Sherald, the artist who created the cover and also painted Michelle Obama for the National Portrait Gallery in 2018, drew on details from Taylor’s life for the portrait, which she calls a contribution to the “moment and to activism—producing this image keeps Breonna alive forever.”
