AJ McLean is joining Dancing With the Stars!

The Backstreet Boys superstar will compete on the upcoming 29th season of the dancing competition show. The “I Want It That Way” crooner officially announced the exciting news on social media early Thursday morning (August 27).

“We’re going for the mirrorball, baby!! I am so grateful to @dancingabc and @abcnetwork for the opportunity to be joining this season’s cast of #DWTS,” McLean, 42, wrote along with a picture of him inside a dance studio. “I also want to thank my wife and my two girls for letting Daddy go on this new adventure. I’m doing it ALL for you!”

The announcement comes after the pop star teased some “big news” a few days ago in an Instagram video showing him shirtless and breaking a sweat in the gym. “I'm on a very strict diet, grain-free, gluten-free, sugar-free, no sodas of any kind, and completely sober for almost nine months," McLean said in the three-minute clip at the time, crediting fitness trainer Bobby Strong for helping him get “prepared and ready for what's to come in the next few weeks."

With his latest endeavor, McLean will be the second BSB member after Nick Carter (who finished second on Season 21) to compete on the show, joining previously-confirmed contender, Bachelorette alum Kaitlyn Bristowe. (The star-studded lineup will be announced on September 2.)

Dancing With the Stars Season 29 premieres on Monday, September 14, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
