On this episode of Fake Doctors, Real Friends, Zach Braff and Donald Faison, along with their producers Joelle and Danil, talk about “WAP” and how it compares to 90’s R&B lyrics, debate which movies had better sequels than originals (Joelle feels very strongly that Alien is superior to its sequel; Donald thinks Toy Story 3 is the best of the bunch; Danil fears his Twitter mentions after he says that Frozen 2 can’t compare to the first); and give us far too much information about their manscaping routines (“You gotta trim the hedges from time to time….makes your house look bigger,” Zach says). They also talk about the Scrubs episode they’ve rewatched, called “My Brother, My Keeper,” which featured the legendary Dick Van Dyke, as well as D.L. Hughley and his “entrancing eyes.”

Though Donald didn’t get to act with Dick Van Dyke, he did get to sing with him; he says that the first song he learned to play on guitar was “Jolly Holiday” from Mary Poppins, because it’s one of his favorites. Zach knew this, so he asked Dick to sing it with Donald. The next day, Donald brought his guitar to set; “Nobody knew what was about to happen,” he says. Dick said, “You ready, kid? Let’s go.” And they began to play. “Everybody notices, ‘Oh s**t, Dick Van Dyke is singing!’....all the attention goes from getting the shot ready to us,” Donald remembers. “And he put on a show, too!….When the lights are on, Dick Van Dyke freaking turns up.” Zach agrees, adding that “it was a really special moment because Donald loves this song….and there was Dick Van Dyke singing it with him.”

They particularly loved Ken Jenkins’ performance in this episode as Dr. Kelso starts transitioning from a “cartoonish villain” into a real character, and laughed hard at Todd’s willingness to walk naked through the hospital; then they digress onto gender reveal parties, videogames and VR headsets, and country music before they welcome Richard onto the show. He’s just proposed to his girlfriend, and surprises her with being on the podcast. Then the guys surprise them by introducing a new advice segment called “Fix Your Life.” They provide some insight into wedding planning for the happy couple, and later, Florence Pugh pops in to give Donald some pizza-cooking tips that inspires him to suggest a “Cooking with Flo” segment as well. Listen to the episode for more Scrubs memories, behind-the-scenes TV talk, hilarious pop culture debates, and so much more on Fake Doctors, Real Friends.
