DaBaby Brings The Fire With Explosive Medley Performance At 2020 VMAs

DaBaby just delivered an explosive medley at the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards.

The North Carolina rapper used tonight’s (August 30) awards ceremony to make a strong statement about the current state of our nation and recruited a talented dance troupe to bring the message home. Taking over the VMAs with a powerful stance against police and law enforcement, DaBaby enlisted the help and creativity of the Jabbawockeez for an extraordinary visual display.

After breaking the fourth wall with a heist-inspired choreographed presentation of “PEEPHOLE,” DaBaby is seen in handcuffs in the back of a cop car while singing his song “Blind.” In a dramatic finale, the visual comes to a blazing end as the 28-year-old emcee breaks free to perform “Rockstar” while rapping from atop the cop car before a chaotic city projected in the background shows helicopters overhead and buildings catching fire.

All three songs from DaBaby’s fiery show tonight appear on his third studio album, Blame It on Baby.

In addition to being one of the night’s myriad musical acts to perform, DaBaby is also nominated in several categories at the 2020 VMAs, including Artist of the Year, Best Hip Hop, Best Choreography, Best Cinematography, and this year’s newest category, Song of Summer, for his Roddy Ricch collab “Rockstar.”
