Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande brought some major girl power to the 2020 VMAs!

The pop powerhouses debuted their smash collaboration “Rain on Me” live for the first time at the MTV Video Music Awards Sunday night (August 30).

Mother Monster opened her captivating Chromatica medley showcase with “911,” all while dressed in pandemic-appropriate attire as she and her gang of dancers each sported futuristic face masks. In a seamless stage design and costume shift, Gaga kicked the tempo up a notch with “Rain on Me” and performed choreo from the music video. Grande enters on stage — face mask, pigtails, princess outfit and all — with big vocals while two-stepping, and still keeping in sync with Gaga from a safe six feet (for the most part).

In yet another effortless costume change — her third of the night — Gaga looks like she’s ready for an intergalactic battle in a shimmering purple bodysuit as she takes to a “brain piano” to sing “Stupid Love,” which ends with one of the most entertaining dance performances of the night.

So far, it’s proving to be a huge night for both ladies, who dominated this year’s show by tying with the most nominations at nine nods each. What’s more, the songstresses have already walked away victorious with trophies for Song of the Year and Best Collaboration. Grande and Gaga are also in the running for Best Choreography, Best Visual Effects, Best Cinematography, and Video of the Year.

Individually, the “7 Rings” superstar took home Best Music Video From Home with Justin Bieber for their collab “Stuck with U.” Mother Monster also took home Artist of the Year, beating out Bieber, DaBaby, Megan Thee Stallion, Post Malone, and The Weeknd.
