An Austin-based designer and business owner is set to teach a class at the University of Texas at Austin. Kendra Scott will be adding Women In Entrepreneurship to to the list of classes that students can enroll in.
The class is a three-credit course that will be co-taught by Scott as she uses her own company as a case-study for the course. Kendra Scott, a jewelry and accessories company, was founded in 2002 and has grown to employ over 2,000 people in 100 standalone stores.
This course is designed to teach female entrepreneurs the ins and outs of creating and running a business and the specific challenges that women face in as entrepreneurs.
In the past, Scott partnered with UT to create the Kendra Scott Women's Entrepreneurial Leadership Institute.
Scott said, "I'm honored to join the university as a professor of practice, and am so excited for the opportunity to work directly with this next generation of courageous leaders. We've seen a real hunger for programming and classes that lift up and support aspiring female entrepreneurs, and I am eager to further our work with the WEL Institute by bringing my own experience and expertise to the classroom."
Scott joins the list of high-profile professors at UT including actor Matthew McConaughey and author Brené Brown.
