Dallas County announced a program that is now being offered to those infected with COVID-19. A hotel is being offered to those who are in need of a place to quarantine to keep from infecting those around them, specifically their immunocompromised and elderly loved ones.

Dr. Philip Huang, Dallas County's director of health and human services stated, "Some people are in situations where quarantining at home is not feasible. As we continue to fight COVID-19, this program will help slow the spread of the virus in Dallas County."

Applications for a room can be placed on the county's website, and each applicant will need a referral from a doctor, nurse, or social worker. The patient must have tested positive for COVID-19 and live in a household where it is not possible to fully isolate themselves. If the applicant is approved, they can stay in isolation at the complex for up to 21 days. Three meals a day will be provided at no cost.

Only those living in Dallas County and just outside the city of Dallas can apply.

There will be no cost to those approved, and the housing program is set to run through December 30.
