Detroit is one of Dave Chappelle’s favorite cities.

The stand-up comedian explained his connection with the city in a story on Big Sean’s new album Detroit 2, released Thursday night (September 3). The album ends a three-year hiatus since the Detroit native's last studio album, I Decided.

Big Sean released the track list of his fifth album on Instagram on Wednesday (September 2), featuring collaborations with Eminem, Post Malone, Lil Wayne, Travis Scott and others, with stories by Stevie Wonder, Erykah Badu and Chappelle. That was one of several teases Big Sean posted before the album release, including hinting at a deluxe version.

Chappelle recalled a show at the Fillmore he predicted he’d β€œbomb.”

Still, he expressed appreciation for the city and its fans.

β€œThere’s never been a single time…not a one, that I’ve ever been to Detroit, where it wasn’t some kind of adventure,” Chappelle said, calling Detroit one of his "favorite" cities to perform comedy in.
