When it comes to reading success for children, it is so important to have access to books. However, not all kids have the opportunity to pick up a book and read it at home. So, one group in Rains County is working to change that.
The Rains Dolly Parton Imagination Library has been working hard to get books into the hands of children who need them. This is in partnership with the Dolly Parton Imagination Library which mails out books to children every month for free from birth to the age of 5, or until they begin school.
This is especially important in a time where children are spending their days learning from home.
The fundraising for this project began back in June. With a strong community behind them, despite the looming global coronavirus pandemic the Women's Service Club of Emory was able to raise more than $20,000 for the program.
Lyn Baldwin, co-chair of the Rains Dolly Parton Imagination Library, stated to NBCDFW, "We are just delighted to see what the community and beyond has done for this organization and for these children."
