Machine Gun Kelly Doesn't Understand Why Men Are Scared To Wear Pink

Machine Gun Kelly isn't afraid to play around with his look and that includes embracing the color pink, as seen at the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards.

Some were quick to mock the rapper for wearing head-to-toe hot pink, along with a pearl necklace, and MGK doesn't understand the fuss. In a TikTok post, the unbothered star, who took home the VMA Moon Person for Best Alternative Music Video, hit back at his critics. "You're still scared of pink in 2020? Are you f*king kidding me?" he asks, tapping his phone with his hand. "You're mad? Just say it. You're mad. You're mad, it's okay. You're mad, come on!"

In case you weren't aware, the color pink only became a socially constructed cultural signifier of gender for girls in the early 1900s. "If you go back to the 18th century, little boys and little girls of the upper classes both wore pink and blue and other colors uniformly," Valerie Steele, director of the Museum at FIT, the Fashion Institute of Technology, in New York, told CNN in 2018.

In related news, MGK recently unveiled the track list and album artwork (via scavenger hunt) for his new album, Tickets To My Downfall. Among the collaborations features on the 15-track set include Halsey, Trippie Redd, Iann Dior and blackbear. As per an Instagram announcement, the LP drops September 25.
