Kathie Lee Gifford has won over TV audiences as an award-winning talk show host alongside the TODAY Show's Hoda Kotb, but that wasn't Kathie Lee's first dream when it comes to a career.

She wanted to be a country singer.

In an interview with Cody Alan, Kathie Lee explains how her dreams of being in the spotlight on stage took a turn and led her to the bright lights of being on camera.

"I was just comfortable being who I am. I never ever had a role model of what a talk show host was supposed to be like, so I didn't try and be that," admits the TV host. "I remember just starting out and just showing up, and they said, "That's all you have to do. Keep responding the way you do. Say the funny things you say." I didn't even know that they were funny. I literally fell into it."

Although Kathie's initial dream of being a country star changed direction, her worthy pursuits included being real with people.

"Authenticity is missing in a lot of things and people long for it. We are missing it,", says Kathie Lee. "Everyone is on social media. Everybody is fixing themselves before they put a picture out there. Everybody is talking in sound bites. That's not the world that I want to live in. I want to be an authentic person."

After leaving the TODAY Show, Kathie Lee continues to pursue her musical dreams and has relocated to Nashville, TN. Will we soon be hearing her on the radio? Hopes are high.

Over the Labor Day Weekend, Kathie Lee shared a picture of her son Cody Gifford, 30, and his bride Erika Brown, 29, walking down a shrub-lined pathway. "God gave us a glorious day to celebrate this glorious couple," shared Kathie Lee in her caption. "So grateful."
