A Hendersonville Police officer killed in the line of duty last year will be among the fallen officers honored by the city with future street names.

Mayor Jamie Clary announced five future street will be named after fallen Hendersonville Police officers, including Officer Spencer Bristol, who was killed in the line of duty on December 30, 2019, FOX 17 News reports.

“I want to show my appreciation for the sacrifices these officers made while they protected our families," Mayor Clary said via FOX 17 News. "We need to reserve these names now for future streets."

Officer Bristol received the Three Stars of Tennessee Award Thursday morning, which is presented to officers killed in the line of duty, WKRN reports. The ceremony was hosted by the Tennessee Department of Homeland Security.

Others honored during Thursday's ceremony included Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Matthew Gatti, Brentwood Police Officer Destin Legieza, Memphis Police Officer Jeffrey Creighton and Putnam County EMS Paramedic Heather Birdwell.

Bristol is survived by his wife, Lauren, and their daughter, Eloise.
