Foodies will soon have the chance to put dishes by a Chopped judge to the test. Chef Amanda Freitag's restaurant Rise & Thyme is expected to open up in downtown Dallas on Friday.
The bistro will serve sandwiches, salads, and "eggs all day," according to the Dallas Morning News. The eatery will live up to its name with plenty of dishes featuring thyme, including "Taco Thyme" - a breakfast taco with scrambled egg, muenster cheese, bacon, and thyme potatoes. It is also partnering with La Casita Bakeshop and Village Baking Co. for pastries.
Rise & Thyme will be the second restaurant at the AT&T Discovery District downtown. It will only serve breakfast and lunch, but dinner will be available at a later date that hasn't been announced. It will be open on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., and will offer takeout, delivery, and limited in-door seating.
Freitag is a New York chef best known for her appearances on various Food Network shows, including Chopped, America's Next Iron Chef, and Unique Eats. She doesn't live in Texas, but said in a statement that Dallas "has given me so many delicious food memories."
