Eric Church Avoids Speeding Ticket For Being ‘Eric Church’

Eric Church has an award-winning smile and a story to tell.

Up for ACM ‘Entertainer of the Year,’ the “Record Year” singer joined Cody Alan to reminisce over the time he got out of a speeding ticket and ultimately saved some money on his car insurance.

“There was a time early in my career that I got pulled over,” Eric begins. “I was just south of Nashville. I’m trying to think of what record it was. It was either ‘Carolina’ or the ‘Chief’ album. A police officer pulled me over, and I rolled down the window, and I put the record on the console so that I could make sure that he recognized that it was possibly me.”

“I ended up getting out of a ticket, that’s what was so funny about it,” laughs Eric. “I ended up really getting out of it in the end. No shame.”

“I picture you drive fast,” Cody jokes.

“Yeah,” Eric replies with a deadpan stare. “Yeah, I do.”

Thankfully, Eric has traded speeding tickets for show tickets and hopefully can get back on the road soon!

Watch for Eric as he joins the other ACM Award ‘Entertainer of the Year’ nominees - Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, Luke Combs, and Thomas Rhett to perform a medley of greatest hits to open the 2020 ACM Awards happening Wednesday, Sept. 16th at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
