A Port Neches native and University of Texas alum is one of the newest cast members of "Saturday Night Live." Andrew Dismukes will be a featured player on the season's 46th season, which will premiere on October 3.

Dismukes has already been working with the show behind the scenes as a writer since season 43, according to Variety. He was able to find success shortly after he graduated from UT in 2017.

Dismukes was performing stand up at the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal, Canada, when his comedy career took off, according to the UT Moody College of Communication. A talent manager noticed his eight-minute set and signed Dismukes. That manager was able to get Dismukes an audition in New York City in front of SNL creator Lorne Michaels and others.

The UT grad found his way on stage while in Austin. Dismukes started performing doing stand up in 2012 at the open mic nights at Cenote, a East Austin coffee shop. He started the comedy show "The Chortle Portal" with other UT students and hosted shows at the former Cap City Comedy Club while finishing a degree in screenwriting.

He isn't the first UT grad to join the famed comedy sketch show. Noel Wells, who graduated in 2010, was a featured player in season 39 from 2013 to 2014.
